Welcome to the DCCollectors collection spotlight, where we showcase one of your DC-themed collections! Whether it is a fan just starting out with a small collection, to some of the largest collections in the world, there is always something you can learn from looking at other’s collections. You might find a new way to display something, or maybe even see something you did not know existed!
Today’s focus is on the collection of Michael Knight. Michael like the majority of our past spotlighted collectors, is a huge Batman Classic TV show fan, and you can tell from his superb collection. Mr. Knight has the ultimate collectible for any Bat-fan, a replica Batmobile in his collection! This is seriously one fantastic collection to look through, and I hope you enjoy the photos that go along with this article.

DCCollectors: How did you get into collecting DC toys and what was your first DC toy/collectible?
Michael Knight: It had to be Batman, mostly due to the Batman TV show, then that led into the comic books. Of course that led into collecting the toys. But my first has got to be the Corgi Batmobile/Boat combo pack.
DCCollectors: How many pieces are in your collection?
Michael Knight: Best guess? Over 1000. I started collecting with in the early 70’s, and I have sold stuff (had to thin the herd due to room) and added since. It has gone from purchasing toys and comics to full life size items, original artwork, screen used props, costumes and more. Just recently we added a full size working Batboat replica, to go with our Batmobile.
DCCollectors: If you could only choose one item to keep, which one would it be?
Michael Knight: Only one item? Wow, that’s tough. I don’t know that i could… That’s not right! Next question!
DCCollectors: What is the one item that you really want to add to your collection?
Michael Knight: That is an easy one, something owned or used by Adam West. Someday!!!
DCCollectors: What piece of advice do you have for those just starting their collections?
Michael Knight: At the end of the day you’re really the only one who has to love it, care for it, cherish it, and enjoy it. Do it for yourself. I have met many a “collector” who has that mentality of get rich quick. Trust me, you’re just gonna use up space in your home and go broke. Sure you may strike lightning once in a while and get some fast cash, but those items are few and far between. The word “rare” and collectible are thrown out way to much, giving people the wrong idea. Do this cause it gives you enjoyment, not for the “golden” opportunity down the road. A Picasso is rare, a Ben Cooper Batman kids costume is not so much.
DCCollectors: Do you have an interesting story regarding the collection, such as meeting someone famous while shopping for your toys, or a super deal you got on something? Something along those lines.
Michael Knight: You would think, with over 40 years collecting I would have one, but I am sorry to say that I don’t. This hobby has lead me to meet LOTS of wonderful people, celebrities and regular folk. Honestly I can’t pinpoint a special moment or story. Don’t get me wrong, there have been many special moments (maybe too many to make one stand out) that are near and dear to me.
