Welcome to the DCCollectors collection spotlight, where we showcase one of your DC-themed collections! Whether it is a fan just starting out with a small collection, to some of the largest collections in the world, there is always something you can learn from looking at other’s collections. You might find a new way to display something, or maybe even see something you did not know existed!
Today’s focus is on the collection of Mark Reinhart. Mark has given us a wonderful collection to look through, and I hope you enjoy the photos that go along with this article.

DCCollectors: How did you get into collecting DC toys and what was your first DC toy/collectible?
Mark Reinhart: I was about two years old when the Batman TV series came out in 1966. I became a Batman fan right at that time, and that fandom has continued through my entire life. I still have the Batman bib my mom would put on me when I was a toddler, so I guess that would have to be considered my very first Batman collectible!
DCCollectors: How many pieces are in your collection?
Mark Reinhart: I would imagine that number would be in the 1000 to 2000 range. Due to space concerns in our house, I only keep a relatively small percentage of my Batman collection out on display.
DCCollectors: If you could only choose one item to keep, which one would it be?
Mark Reinhart: I guess I would say my life-size mannequin outfitted in an Alex Ross-style Batman costume. If I can only keep one item, I’m keeping Batman himself!
DCCollectors: What is the one item that you really want to add to your collection?
Mark Reinhart: I’m really looking forward to getting the Diamond Select Toys Batman statue that is coming out this fall. The first photos I’ve seen of it look very cool.
DCCollectors: What piece of advice do you have for those just starting their collections?
Mark Reinhart: I suppose it is cliché to say this, but I can’t think of anything else. Just collect what you love and have fun with it!
DCCollectors: Do you have an interesting story regarding the collection, such as meeting someone famous while shopping for your toys, or a super deal you got on something? Something along those lines.
Mark Reinhart: The last photo I sent you shows a giant-sized Christian Bale Batman cutout used to advertise Batman Begins toys at Toys “R” Us. Usually stores are very careful about not selling or giving away advertising material due to copyright concerns, but in 2005 someone at our local Toys “R” Us decided to give us all of their Batman Begins material. My two sons and I excitedly drove home from the store with giant Batman, Batmobile and Bat Signal cutouts strapped to the top of our car. Now that my sons have grown up and moved out of our home, and Toys “R” Us is no longer in business, these cutouts are a great souvenir of that very fun moment in time.
